It is time to do some spring cleaning in the house and get all your things organized and stored. The same applies to your makeup kit as some need to be disposed and replaced with new ones so that it is easier in the morning to find everything within your hands reach and get going. Here is a simple technique you can use to make your own makeup organizer to store your makeup and nail polish in an organized fashion for easy access.
What you need:
Gift wrapping paper
Hot glue gun
How to do it:
Measure the bottom of the cookie sheet and cut the craft paper accordingly.
Next, take the hot glue gun and paste it to the edges of the cookie sheet. Place the craft paper delicately and stick it to the cookie sheet.
Now take the hot glue and paste it on the magnets. Spread the glue well and stick it to your make up containers. You can easily place it on glass containers, containing face powder or concealer. In order to place your brushes in an organized manner, you can either use a jar or pouches you might find at home and stick them to the cookie sheet in a similar fashion.
This way you can easily reach and later place your makeup back on the cookie sheet without ever having to dig through your drawer and leaving it in a disorganized manner.
You can also create a simple nail polish storage using a wooden spice rack. You can spray paint it to a fun color you want and Voila! -You have a nail polish organizer and storage unit in a few minutes.
Body tracing excites kids because it is a really creative and unique craft. With this craft you can not only have a fun filled time with your kids but you can also teach them about the human body. Once you have traced your kid’s body, you can encourage him to paint it. Make sure you collect the following items before starting this project.
What you’ll need:
Wide and long pieces of paper
Once you have collected all these items, you can start tracing your kid’s body. Here are some steps which will help you complete this task.
Spread a large piece of paper on the floor and ask your kid to lie down on it. Ensure that the paper is either equal or bigger than your kid’s body. The right type of paper will make this project successful. You can choose a long roll of paper for this project. It will give your kids enough space to make distinct postures. Encourage your kid to lie down in a unique posture. It can be a running, straight or curved body posture.
Now take a black marker and mark the outline of your kid’s body. You can also encourage his sibling to do this for you. Once you have done this, you can show this outline to your kids and next time they would insist on making an outline of your body.
Take a water color set having different colors in it. Encourage your kids to pick some nice colors and make eyes, nose, lips, pants, tees and shoes of the traced body. You can also teach them to draw heart and other vital organs of the body. This will gradually help them learn how human body works. Colors can play a significant role in this project. You can pick some affordable pan watercolor sets from Prang. These sets come with semi-moist transparent watercolor paints which don’t contain wax. They comprise of 8 assorted colors including Black, Blue, Brown, Green, Orange, Red, Violet and Yellow. You can also check out pan watercolor sets offered by LUKAS and Crayola.
Body tracing and painting is an educating activity for kids and a thrilling one for adults. You can do this activity on weekends or in summer holidays to make spare time useful. So, pick some nice water colors, a thick paper and start drawing interesting body postures with your kids!
Great costumes, spooky feelings and fun are what Halloween is all about. Why not spook your neighbors and friends by creating your own graveyard this Halloween? There are different elements like spooky lighting that you can include in your graveyard that will leave your guests with goosebumps. Below I’ve listed some spooky ideas to create a graveyard that will make this Halloween particularly fun and memorable.
Here’s what you can do:
To make your graveyard really eerie, add some fallen branches and tilt some of the gravestones at different angles. This will make it look like your graveyard has been there for centuries.
Put a pair of wide calf riding boots on one or two of the graves. Partially cover these boots with leaves to make it look like somebody is actually lying there.
Hang some oddly large clothes on branches so that it looks like ghosts are haunting your graveyard.
Display a few skulls around the graveyard and use a bit of red paint to give the graveyard an even more dramatic look.
You can also use a fog machine or dry ice to make your graveyard foggy.
The idea of gruesome hands crawling out of the ground can fill anybody with fear. Use two small sticks and your gloves to create this look.
Use Styrofoam or Plywood to make tombstones and write scary epitaphs on them.
Last but not the least, use a broken scrap of wood and write “keep out” or “danger” on it with black or white paint to complete the look.
Welcome your guests in a scary costume and say “welcome and beware” and your guests won’t soon forget your haunted Halloween graveyard.
While diamonds are no doubt a girl’s best friend, a simple and heartfelt, handcrafted piece is just as unique which makes it that much more precious. Crafting your own jewelry is not only a fun and inexpensive way to pass time, but your piece will surely be a great conversation starter. These days, fashionistas and trendsetters are ditching their bling-bling for the more unique and intricate beadwork designs. If you’re in search for ways you can jazz up an outfit or express your individual style, consider a one-of-a-kind DIY beaded necklace!
Cut a strip of tulle or ribbon that’s twice the desired length of the necklace. If you’re recycling old jewelry, you can substitute these pieces instead of using ribbon. I personally used old eye glasses chain for the beads.
Next, you’ll want to tie a double knot where you wish to secure your beads.
Depending on what you have in mind, you can incorporate the different beads at your preference and create an ongoing pattern.
For added embellishment, you can wrap each bead in tulle, like a piece of candy, and twist away. Keep in mind that you’ll want to twist each piece of tulle tightly around the bead to keep it in place while it’s being worn.
Secure each end of the necklace by double knotting each end. You can add an attachment closure (available at any crafts store) to your piece which will allow your necklace to properly attach at both ends.
And there you have it- an easy and inexpensive but cute way to create a personalized piece. While intricate beadwork can be beautiful, there’s no need to spend hours stringing a necklace! Give this DIY beaded necklace a try and as soon as you know it, with enough practice, you may be crafty enough to design an interlocking circle necklace.
People spend hundreds of dollars on a great purse, but not all of us can afford to spend that much on a purse. You don’t have to be a crafting expert to make you own cigar box purse. It’s cute and trendy, but pretty much costs you next to nothing. The best part is that you can decorate it exactly how you want. You can make it personal or a certain color to match certain outfits. Either way it’s a great investment of your time, but you won’t have to invest much money into this fabulous purse!
As the Mayan calendar comes to a close, what better way to kick off the upcoming months with a brand spankin’ new DIY calendar? Call me old fashioned for my interest in calendars, but after not finding a calendar I liked and needing an actual pin board for important notes, I decided to make my own. Make a date to create a personalized giant wall year calendar to keep yourself organized or to give as a crafty gift.
What you’ll need:
Canvas paint (optional)
What to do:
Canvas sizes may vary depending on what you’d like to incorporate into your calendar. I used a 16” x 20” sized canvas and painted a nice creamy color from a watercolor palette set as the backdrop.
Next, I evenly spaced out my ribbon tape ( I placed 4 pieces of ribbons across the canvas making 5 rows and 6 pieces of ribbon going down to make a total of 7 columns). You can use measuring tape for equal spacing between each ribbon, however eye balling each measurement works just as well.
Once you have each ribbon spaced out accordingly, use your pins to hold down each square where your ribbons intersect. For embellishment, I used pins with pearls attached to the ends which enhanced the final product greatly.
When you flip the canvas around, you may find sharp edges from the pins as they’ve been poked through. You can trim the excess pieces off with pliers and hot glue each pin to secure it in place. Hot glue each piece from behind the canvas to avoid globs of dried glue as part of the actual calendar itself.
You can also embellish your large wall calendar with scrapbook paper, feathers, beads, and anything that comes to mind! DIY calendars are a quick and easy way to pass time each month and not to mention, they make the most heartfelt gift. How can the perfect calendar be hard to find when it’s right under your nose, just one craft away?!
If you’re not as crochet or knit savvy as some others, you’ll surely be in luck with this fun, DIY no-sew scarf tutorial. This quick and easy 10 minute DIY scarf is a fun and creative way to design something unique and you’ll most likely be able to complete this project in under 10 minutes! Believe it or not, you won’t be needing any sort of knitting or crochet needles for this yarn craft. And the best part about this no-sew, non-crochet, non-knit tutorial is that anyone can make it!
Set your bar stools side by side and tape the end of your yarn to the stool, leaving a 2” yarn tail.
Wrap the yarn all the way around the stool. I’ve found that using kitchen chairs or bar stools can make the perfect double (and possibly triple) infinity scarf.
Wrap the material around the chairs to a thickness of your liking. To get the best out of your beautiful variegated baby yarn, you may have to wrap your yarn around a couple of times.
Once you’ve determined the thickness of the scarf, carefully remove your scarf from the bar stools and lay it down on a flat surface. Make sure your two loose ends are in the same place (if not, cut one end so they match up).
Cut a piece of yarn (roughly 4” long) and tie a double knot around the entire scarf, securing your two loose ends.
Trim the yarn tails to approximately 1” each.
Using a double knot, secure the remainder of your skein approximately 1” from the knot you just tied in order to secure the scarf.
Wrap all loose ends. Finish your wrap by tying a double knot around the scarf. Wrapping approximately 2” at the ends will secure the whole scarf.
Optional: For added embellishments, you can cut a tail at each end of the scarf approximately 3-4” long. Finger weave the yarn tail to avoid the material from being tangled.
I like to twist the scarf and then wrap it around my neck two or three times depending on how eclectic I’m feeling. This no-sew, non-knit project is probably one of the quickest crafts you can design. It also makes for the perfect going out accessory or gift. The variegated baby yarn will give you a pop of color that’ll brighten up your day. So with just 10 minutes of your time, why not squeeze in this fun way of designing your own scarf to your crafts to-do list?

You can follow the under mentioned steps to create some personalized dishes with funny drawings, funny quotes, inspirational quotes etc. You can use these plates as party favors or birthday presents.
Firstly, it is important to choose the right plate. You must choose a glass plate that’s microwave friendly. A glass plate won’t melt in the oven and this is of utmost importance for this project.
Now you can decorate your plate using different sharpies. You can draw funny pictures or write love messages on your plate. The quote or drawing depends on the person for whom you are making a personalized plate. For instance you can simply write “Will you marry me?” on your plate if you want to propose your girlfriend.
Once you have decorated your plates with sharpies, you can bake them at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. That will help you set the ink. Afterwards, let your plate cool down completely.
Last but not the least, you have to clear spray a protective coat on dishware. This spray will not only allow you to decorate your plate well but it will also allow you to use it for serving food. You can purchase a Krylon acrylic crystal clear coating 11 oz bottle. This spray protects your drawings and decoration from water, dust and stains. It provides a permanent gloss coating to your plate. This spray is moisture resistant and smudge-proof. You can also use it on your old photographs to improve their contrast. You can use this spray to protect your carbon copies, records, maps, documents, display materials, ceramic items, wood crafts and many more items.
Once your personalized plate is dry, you can pack it in cute cellophane gift bags. These bags come in various sizes and shapes. Save the date handkerchiefs can be a great way to let your loved ones know to save the date while giving them a little keepsake at the same time. Here are a few steps which will help you create a beautiful save the date handkerchiefs.
Firstly, pick a cotton handkerchief. 100% cotton women’s handkerchiefs come in different styles. You can pick basic or colored handkerchiefs. They come in different floral prints like rose, lily, lavender etc. You can also consider white cotton bridal handkerchiefs trimmed in wide, white lace and a blue satin bow. Wash and iron these feminine handkerchiefs for the best results.
Pick out your stamp pad. Now put the handkerchief on a hard surface and place the inked stamp on it. Apply even pressure and gently lift the stamp off your handkerchief. Now you should be able to see a beautiful pattern printed on the handkerchief.
Now take a thick piece of plain or subtle colored paper and write whatever you want to. You can slide this card or note into the handkerchief. You can also tie them together like a present with the desired ribbon.
Pick a square envelope and put the handkerchief into it. Make sure that the envelope is sealed properly so that the handkerchief doesn’t fall off.
You can use all these steps to make some elegant brown and cream wedding invitations as well. You can select a cream handkerchief and brown envelope or vice-a-versa. This combination brings in the warmth of English countryside style. You can choose some beautifully crafted brown and ivory Vintage invitation kits if you don’t have much time to make the invitations. These kits help you create striking cards with attractive floral, brown and cream vine designs.
